Jenny O’Sullivan Honored for Her Enthusiasm, Professionalism and Creativity
The New Jersey Clean Communities Council (NJCCC), which runs the state’s litter abatement program is honoring Jenny O’Sullivan, the Clean Communities Coordinator for Hunterdon County with the 2025 “County Coordinator” award.
O’Sullivan accepted the statewide award at the 20th annual Clean Communities Expo and Awards Celebration for her enthusiasm, professionalism and creativity in her role.

Her leadership has fostered long-term collaborations with numerous municipalities, counties, non-profit organizations and the New Jersey State Park Service for litter cleanups.
“Receiving this award is a true honor,” O’Sullivan said. “I’m deeply grateful to be part of an incredible organization that shares a strong commitment to our community and dedicates itself to protecting the environment every day.”
A key part of O’Sullivan’s responsibilities each year includes the Delaware River Cleanup. This annual event organizes more than 300 volunteers who remove litter from the riverbanks from Sussex County south to the tidal waters in Mercer County, as well as waterfront communities in Pennsylvania.
Under O’Sullivan’s leadership, the event will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026.
In addition to her service to Hunterdon County, O’Sullivan shares her skills and mentorship by serving as an instructor for the NJ Clean Communities Certification Class, which helps teach new coordinators how to conduct safe and effective litter cleanups across the state.
She has also served as a judge for several Clean Communities statewide contests, including the video Public Service Announcement competition.
“Jenny is the epitome of a Clean Communities Rock Star,” said NJCCC Executive Director JoAnn Gemenden. “Her commitment to organizing cleanup events of all sizes, supporting engaging educational programs and mentoring future environmental professionals make her a true leader in her local community and in the statewide effort to keep New Jersey clean.”
