Energy efficiency leader brings expertise in sustainability, public policy and community engagement
The New Jersey Clean Communities Council (NJCCC) has welcomed Gerald T. Reiner Jr., Energy Efficiency Program Support Manager for PSE&G, to its Board of Trustees following a unanimous vote on October 14, 2026.
Reiner brings extensive experience in energy efficiency, program development and sustainability to the statewide nonprofit organization, which works to reduce litter, promote environmental education and encourage community involvement in keeping New Jersey clean.
In his role with PSE&G’s Clean Energy Solutions (CES) organization, Reiner leads policy-focused initiatives designed to strengthen existing energy efficiency programs and develop new offerings that respond to the evolving needs of customers.
His responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve program performance, aligning initiatives with broader utility objectives and advancing solutions that help customers manage energy costs.
“I’m honored to support an organization that plays such a vital role in safeguarding New Jersey’s environment and engaging communities statewide,” Reiner said. “Clean Communities’ mission has never been more important as the state confronts the escalating impacts of pollution and environmental degradation.”
NJCCC Executive Director JoAnn Gemenden welcomed Reiner to the board, citing their longstanding professional relationship and his extensive experience.
“I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Gerald professionally for many years, and I have tremendous respect for his knowledge, leadership and commitment to environmental stewardship,” Gemenden said. “He brings an exceptional combination of skills, experience and fresh perspectives to our Board of Trustees. His understanding of sustainability, public policy and community engagement will be invaluable as we continue expanding our programs and building on 40 years of success in keeping New Jersey clean.”
A lifelong New Jersey resident, Reiner has a strong appreciation for programs that deliver measurable benefits to residents and communities. His professional work reflects a commitment to improving quality of life, reducing household energy expenses and advancing sustainable practices.
His appointment comes as the New Jersey Clean Communities program celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, marking four decades of statewide efforts to combat litter through education, cleanup initiatives and partnerships with municipalities, counties, schools, businesses and volunteers.
As a trustee, Reiner will help guide the Council’s efforts to strengthen environmental education, expand community engagement and support initiatives that encourage residents to take an active role in protecting New Jersey’s environment.
